On Monday, while it was still dark and cold, at 2:45 AM dozens of students, single and married, began to appear with their suitcases, prepared to start a long trip of approximately eight hours. We left Tegucigalpa for the beautiful and unforgettable city of Santa Rosa de Copán in the west of Honduras.
After many hours of traveling, some of the travelers began to show their weariness, but this was overcome by their jokes and the happiness that was shown in their faces. We were greeted in an excellent manner by the local brethren who had waited for us with much anxiety.
We arrived at the CREO (Regional Evangelistic Center of the West, an academic work of Mission Upreach) center, where we were given the basic necessities we required.
When we met together, the hosts and the visitors, we received a delicious supper in the building of the church of Christ in Santa Rosa de Copán, where they explained the work the local church was doing and the important cooperation of Mission Upreach in the western part of the Honduran nation.
We began work on Tuesday June the 28th, and the young missionaries and students of Baxter Institute were ready to preach the Word of God to the hearts of the people of Copán, a people kind and affectionate. Everything was excellent, from the attention of the sisters who prepared our meals to the results of the work.
The missionary work took place in a lovely place in Honduras, where we enjoyed the famous “Atol Chuco” and the hot coffee of Copán. And we must not forget the refreshing soda “Copán Dry,” a carbonated drink of this area.
The local people responded positively to the call of
the Lord. This was a great week; our hearts and lives changed, and God continued to prosper the work in this serene place.
The results were surprising: 5 neighborhoods were evangelized, about 400 homes were visited, with 21 baptisms, 5 restorations and dozens of contacts.
The theme was “Times of Change,” which was developed in four conferences presented by second year students: Jonás Chávez, Alex Bravo, Miguel Nicanor and Néstor Sánchez.
The campaign was a total success, and for the glory of God because the Lord was shown clearly in the work ot the young missionaries with the help of Baxter Institute, Mission Upreach and the church of Christ in Santa Rosa de Copán.
We ask your prayers that God will continue to watch over those newborn spiritually in Christ, and also for the work that Baxter Institute does to glorify God in Latin America.
“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth” (1 Cor. 3.6).
